To become a Paws to R.E.A.D. team, you must first be a registered therapy dog/handler team. Registration involves passing an evaluation, following all policies and procedures and purchasing liability insurance.
There are national organizations that register therapy dog teams, and they have evaluators in every state.
Our teams are registered through either Alliance for Therapy Dogs (formerly known as Therapy Dogs Incorporated),
or Pet Partners.
Registration requirements are listed on their websites along with the details of the testing, a list of evaluators, and the cost for the liability insurance they provide.
Please note: if you would like to volunteer in Henrico County schools or libraries, you must be registered through Alliance of Therapy Dogs.
